vermicompost can be used for insect control because of its very high concentration of microorganisms producing chitinase that decomposes chitin (the substance that makes up the outer skeleton of insects)? For this purpose vermicompost is applied around plants or its liquid extract form is used to treat the leaf surface of plants by spraying during the growth season. Vermicompost is effective against insects for 6 months.
